THE SIMPLE NEWSLETTER - ISSUE # 044
In this issue, I want to talk about something we all experience but rarely embrace—the lonely chapter. That in-between season where you’ve outgrown who you were, but haven’t yet stepped fully into who you’re becoming. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s also where the real work of transformation begins.
ADAM'S THOUGHTS:
What it really means—this time when you feel lonely—is that you’ve outgrown your old life.
You’ve outgrown your friends.
Your habits.
Your routines.
Even the things you consume—books, TV, social media—they just don’t fit anymore.
But here’s the hard part: while you’ve outgrown your past, you haven’t yet arrived at your future. You’re in transition. You’re not yet the person you know you’re becoming, so you don’t feel qualified to be around the people or experiences that belong to that next level.
That’s why it feels lonely.
You’re beyond where you were, but not yet where you’re going.
This is your lonely chapter. The space between who you were and who you’re becoming.
And as uncomfortable as it is, this is the time where you get to work it all out. This is where you grind.
ADAM'S LESSON:
When you’re in your lonely chapter, don’t waste it.
This is your time to build.
Right now, you don’t owe anyone anything except the commitment to who you’re becoming. You’re not skipping events or avoiding people—you’ve just naturally grown beyond what used to serve you.
There’s no guilt in that. Those things aren’t meant for you anymore.
If you want the next phase of your life to be fulfilling, this is when you lay the foundation.
Learn.
Reflect.
Build new skills.
Strengthen your perspective.
Grind it out.
This is the work of becoming.
It all ties back to one of the philosophies Tom and I use in our coaching: Believe. Behave. Become.
You have to believe you’re built for something greater. Then you have to behave like it—especially during this lonely chapter. That’s how you become the next version of yourself.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Just because you’re lonely doesn’t mean you’re alone.
