The Window is Closing

Adam’s Thoughts
This week, I’m sitting here writing a book.
Tom and I have written two books before, but this one feels different.
It’s really the culmination of everything we’ve built over the last four years.
We’re taking something we’ve spent years developing with our clients—the CEO Hour—and putting it into a book so someone can use it completely on their own.
Without ever meeting us.
Without ever working with us.
Because the CEO Hour is really about one thing:
Creating the space you need to become everything you’ve been trying to become—in business and in life.
And most of us simply don’t give ourselves that space.
I’ve been thinking about writing this book for a long time.
But this week, something reminded me of a phrase I’ve always believed:
Inspiration is perishable.
Think about that.
When inspiration shows up, there’s a window.
And that window does not stay open forever.
Adam’s Lessons
Inspiration is perishable.
When you’re inspired to do something, you need to act.
You can’t always put it on the calendar for next month.
Because by the time next month arrives, the inspiration may be gone.
The idea still exists.
But the energy doesn’t.
The clarity doesn’t.
The urgency doesn’t.
It’s like food that sat around too long.
Eventually, it spoils.
And that’s difficult because all of us have responsibilities.
Clients.
Employees.
Family.
Taxes.
Meetings.
Problems that need to be solved.
So where does the space come from to actually act on the things that inspire us?
You have to protect it.
Like gold.
If you own a business, chances are you started it because you wanted some combination of success and freedom.
But over time, that freedom can quietly get taken away.
Clients take some.
Employees take some.
Responsibilities take some.
Family takes some.
And before you know it, you’ve built a life where everybody has access to your time except you.
That’s dangerous.
Because if you can no longer act on what inspires you…
How free are you really?
This is why creating space matters so much.
Space to think.
To create.
To analyze.
To assess.
To decide.
To delegate.
Without that space, we get stuck.
And we’ve all been there.
The key is noticing it before it becomes normal.
You’re still in charge.
You are still the one deciding where your time, energy, and effort go.
So be careful who—and what—you hand that control to.
Because when inspiration shows up…
You damn well better have enough freedom left to act on it.
So here’s my question for you this week:
What are you inspired to do right now that you keep telling yourself you’ll “get to later”?
Reply and tell me. While I can’t respond to every message, Tom and I read every reply, and we genuinely appreciate hearing from you.
That’s all for this week.
See you next Saturday.

Thanks
