Adam’s Thoughts
Getting to the next level isn't hard because of the next level.
It's hard because of how successful you've already become.
Most people don't realize that moving up often means starting over.
And that's a terrifying thought.
"Wait... I have to start over again?"
That's usually the feeling.
The problem is, we remember what it felt like the first time. We remember being confused. Unskilled. Uncertain. We remember making mistakes and not knowing what we were doing.
But now?
Now we're experienced.
We're successful.
We're established.
And that's exactly why the next level feels so uncomfortable.
Because moving up requires moving down.
Yes, you're advancing toward something bigger and better.
But the moment you get there, you're back at the bottom.
You're the beginner again.
And that's where most people get stuck.
They want the rewards of the next level without being willing to become a student again.
Adam’s Lessons
I've realized that reaching the next level comes down to one thing:
Commitment.
What are you truly committed to?
Because when we decide to grow, we often try to use the exact same strategies that got us to our current level of success.
The problem is those strategies were designed for the level you're leaving behind.
They won't take you where you're going.
And here's where frustration creeps in.
We expect ourselves to succeed at the same speed, efficiency, and confidence we had at the previous level.
But that's impossible.
At this new level, you're learning again.
You're experimenting again.
You're making mistakes again.
The difference is that when we were new, we expected mistakes.
We accepted learning.
Now, because we're successful, we expect ourselves to already know.
So instead of viewing mistakes as feedback, we view them as failure.
And that slows everything down.
The truth is, you're not starting from scratch.
You're starting from experience.
You're bringing your skills, your network, your resources, your perspective, and your wisdom
with you.
But you're still learning.
And learning is nothing more than iteration after failure.
That's it.
So if you want the next level, you have to become willing to fail again.
You have to become willing to learn again.
You have to find something bigger than your ego.
Something bigger than your comfort.
Something worth the time, energy, effort, analysis, and repetition required to get there.
Because the next level doesn't require a new strategy.
It requires a new willingness to be a beginner.
So here’s my question for you this week:
Where in your life or business are you avoiding the next level because you're unwilling to feel like a beginner again?
Reply and tell me. While I can't respond to every message, Tom and I read every reply, and we genuinely appreciate hearing from you.
That's all for this week.
See you next Saturday.
P.S.
The next level of growth usually requires letting go of the confidence that got you here and learning something new. Click below to find out why so many business owners struggle to make that transition.
