THE SIMPLE NEWSLETTER - ISSUE # 046

As I sat down to write this issue, I found myself reflecting on how quickly life moves when we’re not paying attention. Lately, the people I love and the changes happening around them have reminded me that presence is the only real way to slow time down. In this issue, I’m sharing the thoughts and lessons that came from those moments, in the hope that they help you pause and look a little closer at your own life too.

ADAM'S THOUGHTS:

You know, they say life is short.

But so are moments. So are seasons. So are chapters of your life.

Everything’s short if you don’t pay attention. You blink, and it’s gone.

You have a baby—then suddenly, there’s a man lifting more weight than you.

You have an idea—and before you know it, a thriving business.

You have a father—and then one day, he’s an old man.

It’s tough. When you don’t pay attention, time just evaporates.

When you spend a lot of time with someone, the big milestones stop feeling big. They blend into the everyday. And life keeps pulling you forward—business, responsibilities, vacations, holidays.

There’s always something to do.

But lately I’ve been asking myself: does it even matter if we’re not really there for it?

ADAM'S LESSON:

My partner, Tom, has had some recent health struggles. He’s taking care of it—and he’ll be fine—but it’s changed him.

My father too. His health is declining, and he’s getting older. I’m flying down this weekend just to see him with my own eyes. Because FaceTime and phone calls can’t tell you what real presence can.

So here’s the lesson: be intentional about what you pay attention to.

That means making the time, even when it’s inconvenient.

Sitting in traffic to see family. Paying more for a flight so you lose less time with the people you love.

Because the truth is—those moments are the point.

And when it’s all said and done, what’s left? The business? The stress? The to-do list?

No. It’s the people. The ones who shaped you, stood beside you, and mattered most.

So know what you want out of this life.

And don’t wait for it.

Go out and fucking grab it.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

Time doesn’t wait.

Moments vanish.

People change.

Don’t let the things that matter most slip by while you’re busy doing everything else.
