Adam's Thoughts

You know, I'm always trying to optimize things.

I'm sure you are too.

Especially this time of year.

Summer has a way of reminding us that time is valuable. We want to spend as much of it as possible with our family, our friends, and out enjoying the sunshine.

So naturally, we start looking for efficiencies.

But here's the question I've been asking myself:

Why are we optimizing?

Is it simply to do things faster?

Or is it to do them better?

I think optimization gives us a unique opportunity.

It allows us to see what's working.

It exposes what's broken.

It helps us understand why certain things flow effortlessly while others constantly create friction.

That's why I believe every business—and every person—should have seasons dedicated to improving how they operate.

Because optimizing for greater productivity is almost always time well spent.

Adam's Lessons

When most people optimize, they immediately ask:

"What should I add?"

Another tool.

Another meeting.

Another software.

Another process.

But I've learned something different.

It's not finished when there's nothing left to add.

It's finished when there's nothing left to remove.

That simple shift changes everything.

Instead of asking how to make something bigger...

Ask how to make it simpler.

Why take ten steps...

When two will do?

Look at your systems.

Look at your processes.

Look at your products.

Even look at your sales conversations.

Ask yourself:

What could I remove that would make this even better?

Think about a machine.

The fewer moving parts it has, the fewer things there are to break.

Businesses work the same way.

Eventually, every business reaches a point where it isn't just being built anymore...

It's being maintained.

And the less there is to maintain, the more reliable it becomes.

At the end of the day, business is a game of percentages.

Improve your margins.

Improve your close rate.

Improve your predictability.

Improve your peace of mind.

So if you're going to spend this season optimizing...

Don't begin by asking what you can add.

Start by asking what you can remove.

See you next Saturday,

-Adam
