ADAM'S THOUGHTS:

I was recently at a networking meeting.

Around the table were a lot of service-based professionals — insurance agents, lawyers, real estate folks, title companies — and the theme somehow turned into fraud.

Everyone was sharing different types of fraud they deal with.

When it came to me, I said:

“I help people overcome identity fraud.”

It got a chuckle.

But the more I thought about it… the more I realized:

That’s actually exactly what I do.

Because most people reading this are business owners.

(Yes, thanks Mom… and my longtime friends, I appreciate you too.)

But let me ask you something:

Are you really a business owner?

Or are you just working for yourself?

Because those are not the same thing.

If you “work for yourself,” what you’ve really done… is give yourself a job.

You do the work.

You carry the load.

You are the best employee in the company.

And here’s the problem:

If your identity is “I’m the best employee”…

How do you ever become the CEO?

ADAM'S LESSON:

This is where it clicked for me.

The work I do is helping people shift their identity.

From:

“I work for myself.”

To:

“I own a company.”

That shift changes everything.

Because identity drives behavior.

And behavior determines who you become.

When someone truly identifies as the owner…

They think differently.

They decide differently.

They act differently.

They stop saying:

“One day I’ll hire.”

“One day I’ll delegate.”

“One day I’ll expand.”

And they start saying:

“Today is that day.”

Because if that shift never happens…

Another three years will go by.

You’ll look up.

And you’ll see the exact same ceiling.

So yeah…

I help people overcome identity fraud.

So here’s my question for you this week:

Are you truly operating as the owner of your business… or are you still the best employee inside it?

See you next Saturday.

P.S.

If you’re still the one doing everything in your business, your role might not be what you think it is. Click below to find out why so many business owners stay stuck in the employee mindset.
